In May 2025, Niloofar Razi Howe moderated the panel "Rethinking Cybersecurity within an Artificial Intelligence Construct" at the annual Vanderbilt Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats. The panel brought together experts from industry, academia, and cyber defense — including panelists from DEF CON & Black Hat, Auburn University, and Anthropic — to examine how AI is fundamentally reshaping the cybersecurity landscape.

Panelists raised critical concerns about AI-driven vulnerabilities, including the manipulation of AI training by adversaries, AI hallucinations, and the loss of decision transparency that can make it difficult for human operators to understand how models reach their conclusions. At the same time, they highlighted meaningful opportunities: improved threat detection, faster response times, and expanded cybersecurity capacity.

The overarching theme of the 2025 Summit was clear: as AI systems become more powerful and autonomous, the role of human judgment has never been more crucial. The panel stressed the value of human oversight, system resilience, and coordinated frameworks for trustworthy AI deployment in national security contexts.
